FAQ

How many people are playing WARDOGS right now?
155,249 concurrent players on Steam at the time of writing, September 15, 2026 — an ordinary Tuesday, five days after launch. The count swings with the day/night cycle and weekends, when it has peaked far higher. SteamDB's live chart tracks it in real time.
What is WARDOGS' all-time peak player count?
428,666 concurrent players, recorded by SteamDB on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Launch day itself (September 10) peaked at 337,157 — already more than triple the August closed beta's 105,774 — and the studio's Patch 0.11 announcement thanks players for crossing 400,000.
How many copies of WARDOGS have been sold?
More than 1.5 million as of September 14, 2026, per the studio. The first 1.25 million sold within nine hours of the Early Access unlock — announced by BULKHEAD on September 11 — and the 1.5 million total is the developer's own statement to PCGamesN.
Is WARDOGS dying after launch week?
No sign of it five days in: a 155k weekday count is a strong hold for a tactical FPS, and roughly a third of a record peak is normal launch decay, not collapse. The open question is the one-to-three-month retention curve — exactly what the community-server push in Patch 0.11 is built for.
Where can you check WARDOGS' live player count yourself?
SteamDB's chart for app 1867240 is the standard reference, and Steam's own store page shows the current in-game count. Both ultimately read the same Steam data that this page's live figure comes from.

How many people are playing WARDOGS right now?

155,249 players were concurrent on Steam at the time of writing — September 15, 2026, an ordinary Tuesday, five days after launch. That figure is what Steam itself reports for the game; it moves constantly with the day/night cycle, and weekends have run far higher. For scale: every WARDOGS match is 100 players split across three factions, so a 155k count is, in principle, more than 1,500 full matches’ worth of players online at once.

What is the highest player count WARDOGS has hit?

428,666 concurrent players — the all-time peak so far, recorded by SteamDB on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Launch day (September 10) had peaked at 337,157, already more than triple the August closed beta’s 105,774 ceiling. The full milestone table since launch:

DateConcurrent playersEvent
August 2026 (beta weekend)105,774 peakClosed-beta ceiling per SteamDB
September 10, 2026337,157 peakEarly Access launch day, per SteamDB
September 11–12, 2026400,000 crossedMilestone thanked in the Patch 0.11 announcement
September 12, 2026428,666 peakAll-time peak so far, per SteamDB
September 15, 2026155,249Weekday count at the time of writing, per Steam

The studio’s own framing of that crowd: its Patch 0.11 post opens by thanking players for 400,000 peak concurrent users, and the launch-night cost of the first wave — forced restarts, batched login admission — is documented in the Hotfix #1 notes.

How many copies has WARDOGS sold?

More than 1.5 million as of September 14, 2026, and climbing, per the studio. The opening pace is the headline: 1.25 million copies in roughly nine hours, announced by BULKHEAD overnight September 10–11 (official post). The 1.5-million figure is the developer’s own statement, given to PCGamesN in an interview published September 14 that also revisits the near-disaster of the broken launch queue. The editions and pricing behind those numbers are broken down on the release date and price page.

Is the player base healthy or dying?

Healthy, five days in — with the honest caveat that the real test has not started yet. A 155k weekday count is a strong hold for a niche tactical FPS; sitting at roughly a third of the record Saturday peak is textbook launch-week decay, not a collapse. What to actually watch:

  • The one-to-three-month curve. Launch spikes mean nothing; the counts at week 4 and month 3 are where an FPS population proves whether it holds. Reason 10 of the ten-reasons page made population risk the honest open question before launch — the question is retention now, not arrival.
  • The studio’s longevity bets. Patch 0.11 poured attention into community servers — admin-moderated, rentable, with a cash-bonus week — precisely because player-run servers are what keep FPS games alive “well beyond their peak player days,” in the studio’s own words.
  • Server fill, not headline counts. At 155k concurrent, filling 100-player matches is trivial; the launch-week queue pain that Hotfix #1 solved is not coming back at these numbers.

How do you check the live player count yourself?

Two reliable windows, both reading Steam’s own data for app 1867240:

  • SteamDB’s live chart — current count plus the full history: the 337,157 launch-day peak, the 428,666 all-time peak, and every bump since. The standard reference players and press quote.
  • The Steam store page — shows the current number of in-game players directly on the page.

The in-game server browser is the practical test: if full 100-player official servers are easy to find at your local evening hour, the population is doing its job.

Where do these numbers come from?
